Physical Security Testing

Have you ever wondered whether someone could physically break into your office, and what the impact to you is if someone did? This is where we can help. Our experts in physical security can assess your building from a covert or overt standpoint, depending on your budget and what is needed from the outcome of our testing. How susceptible are your staff to social engineering? Will someone give an attacker the keys to the kingdom if they ask nicely, or will they let people tailgate them when they enter?

What is our covert physical assessment?

In covert, we will attempt to gain access to your building and stay undetected. We will gain access to everywhere possible and find the true impact of this type of attack, what could feasibly be done with the level of access we obtain, and whether anyone notices and stops us! These jobs can be long, and very focused on an objective you set. This is an attack emulation rather than a review of all security flaws.

What is our overt physical assessment?

With overt, we will come into your building and look much deeper at everything, without the risk of staying undetected by staff. These jobs suit a smaller budget, but also provide huge value, showing exactly HOW someone would get in, if they were to try, and what they could do if they did.

Covert vs. Overt

When attempting a covert breach, we perform a significant amount of reconnaissance beforehand. In an overt physical security review, this is not the case. It allows our consultants to identify the main areas of risk without all the reconnaissance.

Our team is equipped with the skills and hardware needed to perform these assessments and imitate a real-world attack. Performing door bypass, card cloning, lock picking, and social engineering, as well as many more attacks carried out in the wider world.

Our team training enhances the team members’ strong skillset, preparing them for operations in urban and rural settings. They are proficient in deploying on foot or in vehicles and adept at establishing observation posts, and physical compromise of your building in any environment.

Once inside the building, an impact assessment is carried out to measure the level of disruption a physical breach would have on your organisation, and key areas to prevent this from happening. This may be building access control system improvements, security policy amendments, and door bypass preventions.

What does it involve?

A physical security assessment determines:

  • Are my doors secure?
  • Can my access cards be cloned?
  • Can an attacker walk into our building?
  • Are my security controls effective?
  • Do our visitor and fire alarm policies leave us open to a breach?

Our consultants will assess critical entry and egress points to expose any potential vulnerabilities, such as bypass and sabotage attacks.

Your policies that govern access to the building will be observed to ensure that you are not exposed to attacks.

During a physical breach, attackers will often attempt to elevate their privileges to access all areas of the building or gain network access to continue attacks on a cyber level.

Can a physical attacker get to a position where they can achieve a network connection or access sensitive assets?
